W. Williams,89, of 12 Montgomery Village Danville PA where he had resided
since 1985 went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday evening, February 9,
2013 at Geisinger Bloomsburg Health Care Center, Bloomsburg PA. He had
previously resided at 8 W Mahoning Street Danville PA. He was born
February 8, 1924 in Danville PA the son of the late Lewis and Cora
graduated from Danville High School in 1942 where he was a star basketball
player. Don served in the United States Navy during World War II. After
the war, he played with a local basketball league for the Watts Basketball
Team, which was sponsored by The Riverview Hotel in Danville PA.
was employed as the second x-ray technician hired by Geisinger Medical
Center Danville PA. He retired from there in 1987 after 48 years as Manager
of the Radiology Department. Don was baptized and was a member of Christ
Memorial Episcopal Church Danville PA for 89 years. He was a charter
member of the Frosty Valley Country Club Danville PA and was a member of the
Danville Elks for 63 years.
avid sports enthusiast, he loved golfing, bowling and baseball. He was a
passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox for 76 years and thrilled that he
“lived to see” them win the World Series in 2004 and 2007. Don loved Big
Band music and Swing.
married for 53 years to Eleanor G. Stamm Williams who preceded him in death
on May 12, 1997. He is survived by one son, Rod Williams and his wife
Barbara of Williamsport PA and one daughter, Debbie Williams with whom he
resided. Also surviving are three grandsons; David, Todd and Steven
Williams and two great-grandchildren; Landon and Kaitlyn Williams. He was
preceded in death by one brother, Lew Williams.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Requiem Eucharist on Friday,
February 15, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church 120 E.
Market Street Danville PA with the Reverend Nancy Shank officiating. Burial
will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA. There will be no viewing.
