Beatrice S. "Bea" Erdman

Beatrice S. “Bea” Erdman, of The Meadows in Danville PA and formerly of 812 Avenue G Riverside PA passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA.  She was born September 10, 1918 in Rush Township, Northumberland County PA the daughter of the late Jeremiah S. and Catherine Yeager Bassett.

 She graduated from Danville High School.  She was employed by Woolworth’s in Biloxi, Mississippi while her husband served his country during World War II.  Bea also was employed by W.T. Grant and the Dora Dale Shop in Danville PA. 

She was an active member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church Riverside PA where she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher for over 60 years.   

Bea enjoyed her family, golf, reading and gardening.  She especially enjoyed spending her time reading the Scriptures. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert C. Erdman on September 27, 2002.  They were married March 25, 1942.   

She is survived by two sons; Earl T. Erdman and his wife Rosemary of Hamburg NY and Lee E. Erdman and his wife Nancy of Tucson AZ.  Also surviving are four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren She is also survived by one sister; Geraldine Herman of Sunbury PA.  She was preceded in death by four brothers; Alvin, Clarence, Russell and Leonard Carl Bassett and one sister, Isabelle Fleming.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.   

Relatives and friends will be received Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church Riverside PA from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM followed by a Celebration of her life at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Dr. Donald N. Hurley officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Grove United Methodist Cemetery in Paxinos PA.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s United Methodist Church PO Box 428 Riverside PA 17868.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
