Lee York, 76, of 1227 Sunshine Road Shamokin PA went home to be with his
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Geisinger
Medical Center Danville PA. He was born August 11, 1936 in Kimberton,
Pikeland Twp., Chester County PA the son of the late Glenn and Edith York.
graduated from Council Rock High School in June 1954.
Joyously awaiting a reunion in Heaven was his wife of 53 years, Carol Ann
Oetinger York who preceded him in death April 22, 2012. They were married
August 29, 1958 at Pineville Community Chapel in Pineville PA.
and his wife lived for many years on Smith Road in Pineville PA and
relocated to central Pennsylvania upon retirement. Robert was a veteran,
serving in the Air Force from 1957-1961, stationed primarily in Texas.
was employed by United Parcel Service for 32 years, retiring from the Willow
Grove Center as a tractor trailer driver.
was extremely active and enjoyed farming, hunting, and caring for the
landscaping surrounding his home. His pride and joy were his grandchildren
to whom he gave so much of his time, love, and support. Robert knew Jesus
Christ as his Lord and Savior and was a faithful attendee of Pineville
Community Chapel for many years. Following retirement he faithfully
attended Augusta Baptist Church, then First Baptist Church of Trevorton PA.
Robert was given a special gift to see and meet the needs of others which he
exercised so often, far more than anyone, except our Lord, really knows.
is survived by two sons: James York of Reading PA and Andrew York and his
wife Bonnie of Shamokin PA. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Christina
York and Tyler York and Brittney, Aaron, Nathaniel, and Collin York. He is
survived by three sisters and five brothers: Mary Ellen Mertz of Pottstown,
PA, Margaret Hibbs of Fredericktown, PA, and Linda Barndt of Warrington, PA,
Arthur York of Souderton, PA, Edward York of Sun Prairie, WI, Paul York of
Mount Horeb, WI, William York of Fountainville, PA, and Ronald York of
Warminster, PA. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Glen York and
Charles York and one sister: Dorothy York. He was also preceded in death by
one son, Thomas Wayne York.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend A Celebration of Robertís life
to be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of
Trevorton 510 S. 9th Street Trevorton PA with the Reverend Daniel
Conklin officiating. Friends will be received from 1:00 PM until the time
of the service. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the
family. The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions in his
memory may be made to Northumberland Christian School 351 5th
Street Northumberland PA 17857. Arrangements are under the direction of
