Robert L. "Bob" Sones

Robert L. “Bob” Sones, 73, of 2708 Bloom Road Danville PA passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 at his residence.  He was born January 8, 1939 in Danville PA the son of the late Kenneth A. and Dalie M. Shook Sones. 

He graduated from Danville High School in 1956.  He was a member of Shiloh United Church of Christ Danville PA and was a life member of the Danville Elks.  Bob was employed at Danville State Hospital, Danville Auto Auction and various trucking firms including the former Cooper-Jarrett of Milton PA.  He was also the owner/operator of a cement truck.  He was retired from the Teamster’s Union.   

Bob was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was a car enthusiast and an avid baseball fan.  He was also well known for his buying and selling of various items, especially cars, throughout the years.  Bob’s greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family. 

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eleanor M. Adams Sones whom he married December 16, 1956.  Also surviving are four sons; Larry Sones and his companion Diane Miller of Danville PA; Glenn Sones and his wife Karen of Danville PA; Randy Sones and his wife Karen of Woodbine MD and Ken Sones and his wife Trisha of Freeland PA.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Courtney, Lauren, Timothy, Brian, Kelly, Stephanie, Tara and Taylor.  Also surviving are four great-grandchildren; Claire, Russell, Max and Ella.  He is also survived by his cousin, Grace Hagenbuch of Milton PA.  He was preceded in death by his cousin, Mildred “Millie” Anderson in 2011. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with his pastor the Reverend Mary B. Schmotzer officiating.  Burial will follow in the Turbotville Cemetery in Turbotville PA.  Friends will be received Monday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home and also on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to Danville Ambulance Service 12 “A” Street Danville PA 17821.  www.visneski.com
