James R. “Jack” Raup, 80, died
at his home at 628 East Front Street, Danville on Sunday February 26, 2012.
He was born in Danville on January 13, 1932, the son of Wilbur Roup and
Hilda (Heimmiller) Roup.
He graduated from Danville High
School with the class of 1949. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the
U. S. Navy, serving until April 1953 when he was honorably discharged. He
graduated from Penn State Hazleton campus in 1957 with an Associate Degree
in engineering. In November 1961 he married the former Ruth Kline, who
survives. He retired in 1995, with over 40 years of service from the former
Kennedy Van Saun and subsequent companies.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing,
hunting, spending time with his grandchildren, and walking his dog PJ. He
was an active member of the Friendship Fire Company, a social member of the
Washies Fire Company, and a lifetime member of the Danville Moose.
In addition to his wife, he is
survived by a daughter Julie K. Raup, a son James ”Jack” Raup II, his wife
Alba and 2 granddaughters Julia and Joanna all of Danville. He is also
survived by 3 sisters Eleanor Wray, June Livziey, and Dorothy VonBlohn all
of Danville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a
brother Donald Raup, a sister Joanne Reibsome, and a sister Margaret Raup
all of Danville. The Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street
Danville, is in charge of the arrangements which are private and at the
convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, family request that donations
