L. “Butch” Coira, III, 63, of 304 Clinton Street Danville PA passed away
Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Columbia Montour Home Hospice at Maria Hall in
Danville PA. He was born October 26, 1948 in Danville, Pennsylvania the son
of the late Henry L., Jr. and Rebecca A. Gerringer Coira.
graduated from Danville High School in 1966 where he was a star basketball
player. He also attended York College. He was a veteran with the US Army
and the US Army National Guard.
was employed by the Treasury Department in Harrisburg PA as an auditor. He
was also employed by Penn Dot in Danville PA and was also an operator for
the Danville Water Treatment Plant.
served as the chairman of the Montour County Democratic Committee for many
years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Danville PA. Other
memberships included Washies, Friendship and East End Fire Companies and
the Elks, American Legion and VFW, all of Danville PA.
was an avid sports fan. Locally, he was considered a #1 fan of the Notre
Dame “Fighting Irish” football team. He also enjoyed following the Boston
Red Sox baseball team. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time
with his family.
survived by his wife, B. Jane Campbell Coira whom he married February 3,
1983. Also surviving are one son, Scott W. Mauray of Muncy PA and one
daughter, Shannon L. Grubbs and her husband Barry of Pittsburgh PA. He is
also survived by three grandchildren; Grant, Garrett and Bayleigh. Also
surviving is his dear aunt, Doris Lemon and her husband Jerry of Danville PA
and his mother-in-law Ruth Campbell of Danville PA. Several cousins also
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at
11:00 am, Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Basilica of SS. Cyril and Methodius
located on Railroad Street Danville PA with the Reverend Tri M. Luong
officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Danville
PA. Friends will be received from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday evening,
August 5, 2012 at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville
PA. Military rites will be accorded by the Montour County Veterans
Association. The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may
