George R. Roup

November 21, 2012

George R. Roup, 81, of 50 Stecker Mill Road Danville PA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born November 10, 1931 in Danville PA the son of the late G. Raymond and Mary C. Gensil Roup.   

He attended Danville Schools.  Mr. Roup served as a seaman in the United States Navy.

He was employed by TRW in Danville PA for 40 years.   

Mr. Roup attended First Baptist Church Danville PA where he served at the Football Chapels and in the ARMS group.  His enjoyments included hunting and Penn State football.  His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family. 

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy J. West Roup whom he married December 30, 1954.  Also surviving are three sons; Larry R. Roup;Roger E. Roup and his wife Anna Mary; Michael A. Roup and his wife Lisa and one daughter, Gail E. Trump and her husband Jim; all of Danville PA.  He is also survived by his six grandchildren whom he adored; Celeste and David Kreischer and Morgan, Brennen, Kierstin and Sherry Roup.  He is also survived by three brothers; Wilbur R. Roup of Italy; Richard Roup of Catawissa PA and Donald E. Roup of Numida PA and one sister, Pearl Guffey of Danville PA.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two brothers; Robert N. Roup and Francis Roup and six sisters; Nora E. Roup, Laura M. Keppler, S. Elizabeth Lewis, Helen L. Heddings, Hilda M. Walker and Mary Jane Kase. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of George’s Life to be held Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive (off 642 E) Danville PA with his pastor the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland officiating assisted by Reverend Dawes Dunham.  Burial will be held in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.  Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard.  Friends will be received from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
