H. Koehler, 73, of 900 Blue Hill Drive Riverside PA passed away Thursday,
November 15, 2012 while hunting in Maine. He was born July 4, 1939 in
Philadelphia PA the son of the late Eugene I. and Genevieve Moskal Koehler.
graduated from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in Plymouth Meeting PA and
from Lock Haven University in 1962 with a degree in Physical Education.
was a Physical Education and Driver’s Education teacher for 30 years. He
taught in the Conamaugh, Montgomery, Selinsgrove, and Benton School
Districts. He retired from Benton in1993. Gene also coached football and
basketball during his teaching career.
a member of St. Paul’s-Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Danville, a
founding member of the Good Times Hunting Club, Nordmont PA, Gideons
International and a life member of the Danville Elks.
cherished time spent with his family, especially his three grandsons. He
was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed
golf, woodworking, fly tying, and traveling.
survived by his wife of 50 years, Pauline E. “Polly” Zellers Koehler whom he
married January 27, 1962. Also surviving are his daughter Jennifer Koehler
Gerst and his grandsons Logan E., Tanner A., and Trevor P. all of Shermans
Dale PA. Also surviving are two brothers; Ronald Koehler and his wife
Denise, of New Castle PA and Allen Koehler, of Collegeville PA and two
sisters; Margaret “Peggy” Cushard and her husband Glenn of Jackson MI and
Laurie Kulp and her husband Ronald of Boyertown PA and 14 nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Albert K. Gerst III.

Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 11 AM at St. Paul’s-Emmanuel United Methodist
Church 305 Pine Street Danville PA with Pastor Greg Molter officiating.
Entombment will be in The Columbarium at Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA at
the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 9 AM until the
time of service at the church. The family will provide the flowers. In
