Dr. Robert Lorren Marcus

October 22, 2012

Dr. Robert Lorren Marcus, 73, of Danville, PA, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA.  He was born May 8, 1939 in Shamokin, PA, the son of the late Dr. Simon and Ruth Hesser Marcus. 

He graduated from Coal Township High School in 1957 and Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA in 1964.  He graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA in 1968. 

Dr. Marcus was employed as a podiatrist at Geisinger Medical Center for 27 years and retired in 2005 due to poor health.  He was formerly in private practice in Boca Raton, Florida for nine years. 

Dr. Marcus was affiliated with Grove Presbyterian Church Danville PA.  He was a member of the Bloomsburg Skeet Club and Northumberland Gun Club.  

In his spare time, he enjoyed skeet shooting, small game hunting, reading and caring for his beautiful roses.  His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. 

Dr. Marcus is survived by his wife of 52 years, Swanee Lauer Marcus whom he married April 9, 1960.  He is survived by two sons; Robert Marcus of Palmyra, PA and Stephen Marcus of Danville, PA.  Also surviving are two grandchildren; Brenda Rohas and Quinn Marcus.  He is also survived by three great-grandchildren; Dylan, Isabella and Angel.  Dr. Marcus was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Marcus. 

Relatives and Friends will be invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Dr. Marcus at Grove Presbyterian Church, Danville, PA Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 12:00 PM with the Reverend Dr. Robert J. Andrews officiating. Friends will be received from 9:45 AM until 11:45 AM in the Great Room of the church.  Burial will be private in the Memorial Garden of the Church.  Memorial Contributions may be made to: Grove Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 330 Bloom Street, Danville, PA 17821 or to The Gatehouse Danville-Shelter and Transitional Housing, 1 Gatehouse Drive, Danville, PA 17821 or the Charity of the Donorís Choice.
