Donald E. Magargle

November 11, 2012

Donald E. Magargle, 80, 108 N. Ardmoor Avenue Danville PA went home to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday November 10, 2012 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA.  He was born July 28, 1932 in Sunbury PA the son of the late Frank and Dorothy Wertman Magargle.   

He graduated from Millville High School in 1951.  He served in the United States Air Force stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Upon discharge, he served in the Air Force Reserves for 30 years.   Don was employed by PPL as an equipment operator, retiring in 1997.   

Don was a member of First Baptist Church Danville PA where he faithfully served as an usher with his warm smile and friendly handshake.   Don served as President of the Montour County Senior Center where he was active for many years.  He also served as a Board Member on the Montour County Conservation District.  Don served many years as Vice President of the Montour-Delong Fair in Washingtonville PA.  He served as the gatekeeper and in numerous offices in the California Grange #941 Limestoneville PA.  Don was also a member of the Danville VFW. 

He enjoyed hunting, especially deer hunting and also enjoyed 1956 Chevys, reading, local politics and baseball.   

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ethel Cotner Magargle whom he married June 14, 1953.  Also surviving is his son, Roger and his wife Carol of Aliquippa PA.   He is also survived by two granddaughters, Christine and Stacey and one great-granddaughter, Kendall.  Several nieces and nephews also survive him.   

A Celebration of Donís Life will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive (off 642 East) Danville PA with his pastor, the Reverend Harry H. Wonderland officiating assisted by the Reverend Dawes Dunham.Burial will be in Muncy Cemetery in Muncy PA.  Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard.  Friends will be received from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the church.   Grange services will be held at 9:45 AM at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Montour County Senior Center 500 West Mahoning Street Danville PA.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc.10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
