Carol Ann York

April 23, 2012

Carol Ann York, 72, of Sunshine Road Shamokin PA went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA.  She was born September 25, 1939 in Abington PA the daughter of the late Walter and Anna Webb Oetinger.   

Originally, she lived at Christís Home for Children in Warminster PA which her great-grandfather Dr. Albert Oetinger co-founded.  The remainder of her childhood she lived in the Richboro PA area.  She graduated from Council Rock High School, Newtown, PA.  Carol, her husband and family lived at several locations through the 1960ís and then for many years on Smith Road in Pineville PA.  They relocated to Shamokin PA in 1999. 

Along with being a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, Carol was employed by, and retired from, the Central Bucks School District.  She worked at Central Bucks West High School and Central Bucks East High School as a teacherís assistant, administration assistant and special education assistant.   

She came to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior on July 26, 1954.  Her faith and trust in Christ motivated her lifestyle and her priorities.  She faithfully attended and served at Pineville Community Chapel in Pineville PA for many years.  Following her retirement she attended and served at Augusta Baptist Church in Sunbury PA and First Baptist Church in Trevorton PA.  She served her Lord in many and varied ministries within these churches over the years, as well as, beyond those walls in personal service to others.  She actively served in ministries such as music, choir, children and youth, and was an incredible encourager through letter and word.  She was a dedicated and faithful prayer warrior. 

Carol is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert Lee York whom she married August 29, 1958 at Pineville Community Chapel in Pineville PA.  She is also survived by two sons; James York and his partner Shawn of Reading of PA and Andrew York and his wife Bonnie of Shamokin PA.  Also surviving are six grandchildren; Christina York and Tyler York and Brittney, Aaron, Nathaniel and Collin York.  She is also survived by one sister, Catherine Oetinger Turner of Mulberry FL and Edward Oetinger and his wife Dixie of Mulberry FL.  She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas York. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend A Celebration of Carolís life to be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive (off 642 East) Danville PA with the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland officiating  assisted by the Reverend Robert Joka, the Reverend Daniel Conklin and the Reverend John Hessler.  Friends will be received from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.  The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Northumberland Christian School 351 5th Street Northumberland PA  17857.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
