Grace Lucille Houseknect, 92

March 3, 2011

Grace Lucille Houseknect, 92, passed away peacefully at Grandview Health Homes, Inc. Danville PA on Wednesday, March 2, 2011.  She had previously resided at D&H Avenue Riverside PA.  For the past ten years, her daughter Linda resided with her. She was born Easter Sunday, March 31, 1918 on a farm in Milton PA the daughter of the late Daniel and Clara Reedy Hulsizer. Later, they moved to Bald Top Mountain Danville PA where she was raised. 

Grace was employed for 25 years at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA in the Housekeeping Department, retiring in 1981.  While she was there, she was honored for her work ethic and faithfulness on the job. 

Grace is remembered for her “open door” to friends and family who often dropped in for a chat and a slice of her wonderful home-baked apple pie. 

She was preceded in death by two husbands; Joseph F. “Chub” Stetler in 1959 and Francis “Tink” Houseknecht in 1999.  She is survived by two daughters; Kay Stetler Derr of Danville PA, wife of the late Lawrence Derr and Linda Stetler Webb and her husband Richard C. of Riverside PA.  Also surviving are her grandchildren; Greg Derr of Allentown PA; Gary Derr of Danville PA; Richard Webb of Bloomsburg PA; Laurie Webb Jones of Danville PA, K. Adam Webb of Bloomsburg PA and Brian Webb of Riverside PA.  She is also survived by her great-grandchildren; Charissa and Madelyn Derr; Gary, Matthew and John Derr; Christopher, Marissa and Alana Webb; Anthony, Elijah, Samuel, Caleb and Crystal Jones of Danville PA and Garrisson, Logan, Jayla and Brydan Webb.  Also surviving is one great-great-granddaughter, Anna Webb.  Also surviving are her step-daughters; Debbie Houseknecht Allison and Darlene Houseknecht Swope; both of Danville PA.  She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Valerie Susan Derr and two great-granddaughters; Lauren and Burgandy Jones.  Grace was the last surviving member of her family, preceded in death by brothers John, Ralph, Floyd and Daniel and sisters Thelma Kerstetter, Mary Hack and Cordelia, who died in infancy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Monday, March 7, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA with the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland officiating assisted by the Reverend Dawes Dunham, First Baptist Church Danville PA.  Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 12:30 PM until the time of service.  The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive Danville PA 17821.   www.visneski.com
