Carol  J. Patterson, 70

March 31, 2011

Carol J. Patterson, 70, of 135 Hendrickson Road Danville PA passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Manor Care Health Services in Sunbury PA.  She was born October 29, 1940 in Lewisburg PA the daughter of Edward J. Barry of Danville PA and the late Kathryn Bergenstock Barry. 

Carol was one of the last graduates of Montandon High School in Montandon PA.  She graduated as a registered nurse in 1961 from the Polyclinic Nursing School in Harrisburg PA.  She was employed as a registered nurse by the Montrose General Hospital from 1962-1972.  She was then employed by Geisinger Medical Center from 1973-2000.  Carol was an active member of the Washingtonville Lutheran Church in Washingtonville PA where she served on the Congregational Council.  She was an active member of the Ft. McClure Chapter of the D.A.R in Bloomsburg PA.  Her memberships also included the Order of the Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society. 

Carol had an avid interest in history including local history and the Civil War.  She also enjoyed watching football, especially Penn State.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Richard W. “Dick” Patterson who died July 26, 2000.  They were married November 11, 1961.  She is survived by her two sons; R. Shane Patterson of Danville PA and Eric B. Patterson of York PA and eight grandchildren; Melissa, Matthew, Michael, Katelynn, Sierra, Mara, Emma and Jacob Patterson.  She is also survived by one brother, E. James Barry of Hammondsport, NY.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Monday, April 4, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Washingtonville Lutheran Church Washingtonville PA with her pastor the Reverend Melody Sell officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends will be received from 9:45 AM until 10:45 AM at the church.  Order of the Eastern Star services will be held at 9:30 AM.  The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to either Washingtonville Lutheran Church PO Box 181 Washingtonville PA 17884 or the Montour County Historical Society 1 Bloom Road Danville PA  17821.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
