Robert “Bob” Miller, 77,
of 218 Maple Street Danville passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 at his
residence. He was born December 20, 1933 in Shamokin PA the son of the late
Robert and Lula Hill Miller.
He attended Sunbury
Schools and later in life graduated with an Associate Degree in Human
Services from the Pennsylvania School of Technology in Williamsport PA.
Mr. Miller served in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant during
the Korean War.
He was employed as a
psychiatric aide for 30 years at Danville State Hospital, retiring in 1987
and by Northumberland County as an intensive case manager for eight years.
Mr. Miller was a school bus driver for Bus #7 for the Danville Schools for
many years and actively served with the Danville Ambulance as Chief Driver
and as President.
Mr. Miller attended
Mahoning Presbyterian Church Danville PA. His memberships included Boy
Scout Troop #7 in Sunbury PA, a life member of VFW in Sunbury PA, the
Danville Moose, a member of AFSCME Local 1513 and he was a former commander
of the American Legion Post 44 Northumberland PA. He was also a member of
the Danjo Wheelers. One of Bob’s greatest joys was dancing, including
Ballroom, Round and Square Dancing.
He was married for 54
years to Dolores F. Clemens who preceded him in death on May 9, 2007. He is
survived by one son, Robert J. Miller of Shamokin PA and three daughters,
Janelle D. Miller of Yucca Valley, California; Michelle A. Rider and her
husband Neil of Millville PA and Camille A. Kriner of Riverside PA. Also
surviving are eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Bob is also
survived by his life companion, Mary Jane Buehner of Danville PA. Also
surviving are three sisters; June Dunham of Selinsgrove PA; Dolores Kurtz of
Augustaville PA and Violet S. Miller of Tampa FL. He was preceded in death
by one brother, Thomas J. Miller and two sisters; Joanne Heintzelman and
Relatives and friends are
invited to attend a Celebration of Bob’s life to be held Monday, September
26, 2011 at Mahoning Presbyterian Church 106 E Mahoning Street Danville PA
at 11:00 AM with his pastor the Reverend Judson S. Bennett officiating.
The family will provide
flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Mahoning Presbyterian Church
