Myron J. Fenstermacher

Myron J. Fenstermacher, 95, of 710 Bloom Street Danville PA passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA.  He was born March 5, 1916 in Danville, Pennsylvania the son of the late Warren S. and Bertie Edna Moser Fenstermacher.   

Myron attended elementary school in Mausdale, PA and graduated from Danville High School.  He served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre.  Along with his brother, Wilson Fenstermacher, he farmed the family farm on Washingtonville Hill in Valley Township PA for many years.  He also was employed at the same time by Danville Area School District as the custodian at the Fourth Ward Elementary School Danville PA.  His employment also included being a well digger. 

Myron enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and was an avid hunter. He was an active member of the Community Alliance Church Danville Campus which was formerly the United Church of Christ in Mausdale PA. Myron was a member of the Danville-Mahoning Lodge No. 224 F & AM and the Caldwell Consistory in Bloomburg PA. 

 He was a devoted husband to his wife of 53 years, Mae Huffard Fenstermacher who preceded him in death on June 5, 2000.  They were married July 20, 1946. 

He was preceded in death by one brother, Wilson Fenstermacher and by one sister, Martha S. Horne Creasy on April 9, 2011.  Also surviving are four nephews; Keith A. Horne, Corning, NY; Kenneth L. Horne, Kent, WA; James M. Horne of Bellefonte PA and Gary Fenstermacher of Danville PA and one niece, Connie Snyder of Jerseytown PA.  Myron is also survived by his dear friends and neighbors; Gail and Tom James of Danville PA. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA with his pastor the Reverend Nathan King officiating.  Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made to Thomas Beaver Free Library 25 East Market Street Danville PA  17821.  www.visneski.com
