Mary E. Lehman

October 13, 2011

Mary E. Lehman, 91, of Heritage Heights, Danville PA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA.  She had previously resided in York PA moving to Danville in 1986.  She was born August 22, 1920 in York PA the daughter of the late Albert W. and Hester V. Merganthaler Bishop. 

She attended York Schools.  Mary was retired as an inspector for various textile mills in the York area.  She was a member of the York Gospel Center in York PA.   

Mary enjoyed reading, gardening, crafts, needlework, ceramics, sewing, couponing and traveling.  She enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Philadelphia Phillies.  She was a faithful supporter of various Christian ministries. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  

She is survived by one daughter, Lynette “Lyn” Bowen and her husband James W. of Danville PA.  Also surviving are three grandchildren; Kelly Bowen, Danville PA; Matthew Bowen and his wife Gwen of Shamokin Dam PA and Jamie Bragg and her husband Martin of Bloomsburg PA and four great-grandchildren; Ava Bowen of Shamokin Dam PA and Kayla, Kathlyn and Emma Holdren of Bloomsburg PA.  She is also survived by two sisters; Phyllis Hoffman and Norma Jean Shearer, both of York PA.  She was preceded in death by three sisters; Dorothy Converse, Vivian Bishop and Evelyn Forrey.  Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her.   

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Mary’s life to be held Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive Danville PA with the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland officiating assisted by Pastor Kenneth Force.  Burial will follow in Straub’s Lutheran Church Cemetery Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 11:30 until 12:45 PM at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Bell Choir 20 Brookside Drive Danville PA  17821.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
