Myrtle K. “Mitzi” Carl, 70

Myrtle K. “Mitzi” Carl, 70, of Rushtown Road Danville PA passed away Sunday morning, December 12, 2010 at her residence.  She was born March 4, 1940 in Hazleton PA the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy Dresher Mentch.

Mitzi was a 1958 graduate of Roaring Creek Valley High School in Numidia PA which was actually the first graduating class of Southern Columbia High School.  She was employed for 10 years by Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA as a desk clerk.  She attended Elysburg Presbyterian Church.  Mitzi was proud to be included in the Fisherdale gang since she was 10 years old.  She was a member of the Scarlet Madams Red Hats.

Mitzi had many enjoyments in life which included gardening, reading and traveling with her husband Ron. She was an avid shopper, especially yard sales.   Mitzi was always feeding the birds and had a great fondness for all animals, and a great love for her dog, Figi.  Of all of Mitzi’s enjoyments, she valued and treasured her friends greatly and had an unending love for her family.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ronald A. Carl whom she married September 9, 1961 and one son, Matthew A. Carl of Danville PA.  Also surviving are two sisters; Dorothy Shaffer and her husband Pete and Mary Alice Clark and her husband Marvin; both of Virginia and two brothers; Bill Mentch and his wife Cheryl of Maryland and Carl Mentch and his wife Louise of Danville PA.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
