Mark Wayne Martinson

Mark Wayne Martinson, 66, of 211 West Market Street Danville, PA passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010 at home.  He was born August 9, 1943 in Concordia, KS, the son of the late Brady and Marian Martinson. 

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth Hauslein Martinson; a son Mark Wayne Martinson, Jr. of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Heidi Madagan of Charlottesville, VA and Hanna McKee of Dallas, TX; 3 grandchildren, Ryan and Ethan Madagan and Virginia McKee; two brothers, Melvin Martinson of Walkersville, MD and John Martinson of Mt. Airy, MD; and many loved ones. 

He served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1971.  He was Chief of the Corpsmen 1st Battalion 7th Marines in Vietnam.  Mark did his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland and graduate work at Temple University School of Medicine.  He did his anesthesia residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and was nominated as resident Teacher of the Year in 1983.  He was a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.  He was employed as an anesthesiologist at Geisinger Health System in Danville, PA and Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg, PA. Mark was actively involved in the lives of his family, attending numerous sporting games, recitals and other important events in each of their lives.

 Services will be held at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church 120 E. Market Street in Danville PA on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 11:30 AM.  A reception will follow in the Community Room at the church.  All are welcome at the Martinson home following the reception at 211 West Market Street Danville, PA.  Inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery later this summer. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple University School of Medicine Institutional Advancement 3500 North Broad Street 11th Floor Philadelphia, PA  19140 in memory of Mark Wayne Martinson or to Christ Memorial Episcopal Church Memorial Fund 120 E.
