William Joseph "Bill" Rogers

William Joseph “Bill” Rogers, 85, of Shamokin Dam Pa died on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville PA after a brief illness. He was born July 4, 1924 in Shamokin PA the son of the late Charles and Elsie Mace Rogers.  

William was a decorated WWII veteran who married after the war and moved to Illinois. He eventually joined the westward movement of the 1950's and relocated to California. An aerospace machinist for many years, William moved his wife and family to Delaware in 1970 where he was owner and operator of Three Sons Smoke Shop in New Castle until his retirement in 1990.  He relocated to Shamokin Dam PA in 1999 where he resided until his death. 

William loved to go camping, fishing and traveling. He enjoyed gardening, wood working and puttering around the house. He was a devoted father and husband.   

 William was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Theresa Beland Rogers whom he married in 1948.   William is survived by his three sons; Gary, Randy and William Rogers as well as 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren from his first marriage.  He is also survived by three brothers; Carl, Francis and Ronnie Rogers and two sisters; Elsie Cavender and Barbara Rogers. Also surviving is his second wife Betty Templin Rogers and her two children Richard Templin and Joann Curran as well as 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.   

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday March 26th 2010 at Stonington Baptist Church 2113 Hosta Rd. Paxinos Pa. 17860.  In lieu of Flowers a donation to the Disabled American Veterans organization (www.dav.org) or to the Make-a-Wish foundation (www.wish.org) would be appreciated.
