Walter L. Krebs, 102, of
103 Clinton Street Danville PA, the home in which he built, passed away
Thursday morning, February 18, 2010 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville
PA. He was born February 8, 1908 in Swengel PA the son of the late John and
Emma Jane Catherman Krebs.
He graduated from Lewis
Township High School in Union County PA in 1925 and graduated as a
registered nurse from the School of Nursing at Danville State Hospital. Mr.
Krebs was employed as a psychiatric nurse for 38 Ĺ years at Danville State
Hospital where he retired in 1966. Mr. Krebs was also a building contractor
and remodeler of homes in the Danville area for many years.
He attended St. Paulís
Emmanuel United Methodist Church Danville PA. He was a 50 year member of
Danville-Mahoning Lodge #224 F & AM Danville PA. Mr. Krebs enjoyed hunting,
woodworking and watching speedboat racing. He was particularly fond of
cracking and picking out black walnuts.
He was married for 46
years to the late Freda E. Campbell Krebs who passed away February 1, 1998.
He is survived by two sons; Richard A. Krebs and his wife Connie and John A.
Krebs and his wife Susan; both of Milton PA. Also surviving are seven
grandchildren; Robert, James, and Todd Krebs, Kimberly Scheider, Angela
Yarger, Dawn Marino and Barbara Woodring. He is also survived by 11
great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two step-grandchildren; Robert B.
Geiger and Sue Ann Stauffer and four step-great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by one brother, Chester Krebs and two sisters; Dora Krebs
and Hallie Warburton. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
