Robert E. Carey

September 28, 2010

Robert E. Carey, 69, Danville PA passed away Tuesday morning, September 28, 2010 at Columbia Montour Home Hospice at Maria Hall Danville PA.  He was born August 2, 1941 in Elizabeth NJ the son of the late Robert E. and Charlotte Burisch Carey, Sr.

 He graduated from Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge NJ in 1959.  He received an Associate Degree from RCA Institute in New York City, NY.  He received a Bachelorís Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson College in New Jersey.  Mr. Carey served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era as a radar technician in Strategic Air Command.  He was employed by Bell Laboratories in New Jersey and by Western Electric in Reading PA, retiring in June 2001.   

Mr. Carey was a member of Grove Presbyterian Church Danville PA where he served faithfully in Childrenís Ministries.  This involvement led into serving at Head Start where he was president of the Policy Council for two years.  While residing in New Jersey, he was actively involved with Little League and Boy Scouts of America.  He was an avid bowler.  His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his wife and children whom he adored. 

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Susan M. Schuetz Carey whom he married November 24, 1966 and two sons; Scott M. Carey of Northumberland PA and Gregory A. Carey of Lancaster PA.  Also surviving is one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Carey and one grandson, Kristopher Carey.   

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held Sunday, October 3, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Grove Presbyterian Church 330 Bloom Street Danville PA with the Reverend Dr. Robert J. Andrews officiating.  Burial will follow in the Memorial Garden at the church.  Friends will be received from 1:00 PM until the time of service in the Great Room at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Montour Unit 1948 E 3rd Street Williamsport PA  17701-3945.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com.
