Phyllis H. Gammon

Phyllis H. Gammon, 89, of 17 Grotto Drive Danville PA 17821, where she had resided since May 2009 and formerly of Marcellus, NY, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Danville, PA.    She was born December 12, 1920 in Mineola NY, the daughter of the late Alfred S. and Anita H. Hecht. 

Phyllis graduated from Great Neck High School in Great Neck, NY and from Smith College in Northampton, MA.  She was employed for 10 years as a secretary by the National Headquarters Episcopal Church in New York, NY and was Site Manager for 17 years for the PEACE, Inc Senior Citizen Nutrition Center in Marcellus. 

Phyllis was an active member of St. Johnís Episcopal Church in Marcellus, NY and a 25-year volunteer for the Marcellus Free Library. 

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Alan L. Gammon.  Also surviving is one son, David Gammon of Pittsford, VT and two daughters; Catherine Bastian of Danville, PA and Cynthia Gammon of Houston, TX.  She is also survived by five grandchildren and  one brother, Edward Hecht of Dallas, TX.   

A memorial service will be at the convenience of the family.  Memorial contributions may be made to St Johnís Episcopal Church, Marcellus or the Marcellus Free Library.
