Mildred S. "Millie" Dietz

Mildred S. “Millie” Dietz, 83, of 712 Circle Drive Riverside PA passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Grandview Health Homes, Inc. Danville PA.  She was born May 9, 1927 in Summer Hill PA the daughter of the late LaRue and Leaetta Eckroth Shultz.

 She graduated from Berwick High School in 1944 and from Geisinger School of Nursing Danville PA.  Millie was employed by Geisinger Medical Center and by Merck and Company Riverside PA as the plant nurse.  She was a member of Shiloh United Church of Christ Danville PA.  Millie was an avid pinochle player and also enjoyed reading and sewing.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. 

Millie was married for 47 years to the late George “Lew” Dietz who died October 19, 2000.  They were married April 30, 1953.  She is survived by one son, Kenneth L. Dietz of Riverside PA and three daughters; LeAnn Gardner with whom she resided; Susan D. Simpson of St. Joseph, Michigan and Brenda M. Driscoll of Harrisburg PA.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren.  Also surviving is one brother, Marlet Shultz of Georgia and several nephews.  She was preceded in death by three sisters; Shirley Sult, Izora Noss and Elsie McCurdy. 

Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service to held Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Shiloh United Church of Christ 500 Bloom Street Danville PA with her pastor the Reverend Mary B. Schmotzer officiating.  Burial will be private in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.  There will be a viewing on Wednesday evening, July 7, 2010 from 7-9 PM at Visneski Funeral Home 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.  Friends will also be received from 1:00 PM until the time of the Memorial Service at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to either the church or the American Diabetes Association Somerset Office 19 School House Road Somerset NJ  08873.  www.visneski.com
