Mary E. Keller

February 2, 2010

Mary E. Keller, 77, of 540 Montour Boulevard, Bloomsburg, PA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 1, 2010 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA.  She was born August 7, 1932 in Danville, PA, the daughter of the late Catherine Montague Burger Geringer and the late George E. Burger. 

Mrs. Keller was a graduate of Danville High School in 1951.  She resided in the Danville and Bloomsburg area her entire adult life.  Her main interest was in her home, family, and church.  She was a member of St. James United Church of Christ (Ridgeville), Danville, where she will be remembered for her faithfulness and her wonderful baked goods made to support their various fundraisers and covered dish meals.  She sang in the church choir for many years and attended the Adult Sunday School Class.  Mary was secretary for St. James UCC for over 25 years.  She loved to bake, watch figure skating and beauty pageants on TV.  She also enjoyed listening to country music, especially Alan Jackson.  Mary was very generous to everyone, helping them with anything she could provide.   Her helpfulness to people gave her great joy.

 Mary, in her earlier years, worked at Geisinger Medical Center.  She was in the first class of Nurse’s Aides at Geisinger, achieving top honors in her class.  Mary worked in the Children’s Ward during the polio epidemic. 

She is survived by her husband, Myron L. Keller with whom she would have observed their 58th wedding anniversary on March 29th.  Also surviving is a daughter: Diane K. Hackett, her husband, Barry Hackett, and grandson, Jeremy S. Hackett of Bloomsburg, PA.  Her sons:  Larry L. Keller and his wife, Arla Billig Keller of Bloomsburg, PA; and Bradley E. Keller and his wife, Kierstie Bowers Keller of Rye, NH.  Also surviving is her brother, Fred M. Geringer and his wife, Martie Geringer of Danville, PA; and two nephews and eight nieces.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert E. Burger and George L. Burger and one sister, Jane Burger Nevius. 

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 12:00 Noon at St. James United Church of Christ, 2507 Bloom Road, Danville, PA with her pastor the Reverend Richard Shearer officiating.  Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville, PA.  Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM at the church prior to the service.  Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to St. James United Church of Christ, 2507 Bloom Road, Danville, PA 17821.
