Freda M. Patterson

September 5, 2010

Freda M. Patterson, 74, of Danville PA passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010.  She was born March 29, 1936 in West Virginia the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Claude Staley. 

She graduated from Rittman High School in Rittman Ohio and from Geisinger School of Nursing Danville PA as a LPN.   Freda was employed as an LPN by Grandview Health Homes, Inc. Danville PA.  She served as a volunteer at The American Red Cross in Danville PA and for SUNCOM in Bloomsburg PA.   

Freda was a member of the Catawissa VFW.  Her enjoyments included reading, traveling and she especially enjoyed beach vacations.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. 

She is survived by one son; Shawn L. Patterson and his wife Jennifer of Danville PA and one daughter, Debra J. Franklin and her husband Thomas of Danville PA.  She is also survived by five grandchildren; Matthew, Brandy, Jasmine, Alexis and Hayden.  Also surviving are five great-grandchildren; Kyla, Scott, Taylor Dawn, Malaki and Jocelyn.  She is also survived by her foster son, Patrick Morris and his wife Denise of Bloomsburg PA.  One brother, Robert Staley of Rittman Ohio also survives her.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her son, Edward Patterson in January of 2010 and one brother, Virgil Staley and two sisters; Eloise Copley and Maxine Trent. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA with the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland First Baptist Church Danville PA officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Paulís (Straubís) Lutheran Cemetery Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made to either Geisinger Home Hospice 100 Academy Drive MC-1  Danville PA  17822 or The American Red Cross 346 Mill Street Danville PA 17821.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA. www.visneski.com
