Emma Woodruff

Emma Woodruff, 98, of Danville PA passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Grandview Health Homes, Inc. Danville PA.  She was born June 16, 1911 in Rush Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late George and Bertha Kerstetter Fisher. 

She was a homemaker and also enjoyed quilting and cooking.  Her greatest devotion was spending time with her family.  Emma was an active member of St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mayberry Township, Montour County, PA.  She served as tax collector in Mayberry Township for many years. 

She was married for 65 years to the late Marr W. Woodruff who preceded her in death August 17, 1999.  They were married February 14, 1934.   

Emma is survived by one son, Oren M. Woodruff and his wife Pamela of Coopersburg PA and two daughters; Reita J. Auten and her husband John of Mooresburg PA and Emma J. Woodruff of Jonesboro GA.  Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and  several step-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Vera M. Wysocki in 1992.   She was also preceded in death by one brother William Fisher and four sisters; Cora Rothermel, Carrie DiGennaro, Grace Clark and Hattie Woodruff.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.   

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM  at  St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church 29 High Road Mayberry Township Danville PA with the Reverend David Hauck officiating.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends will be received from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church.  The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.   Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com.
