Dorothy M. McGarry, 86, of Toms River NJ passed
away Thursday morning, August 12, 2010 at Columbia-Montour Home Hospice at
Maria Hall in Danville PA. She was born in Kearny NJ the daughter of the
late Serge and Dorothy Semenoff.
She graduated from Walton High School in Bronx
NY. She was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Toms River NJ and a
member of the Catholic Daughters. Dorothy was an accomplished quilter,
sewing all her quilts by hand. She was an avid Bingo player and served as
an officer for the Holiday Heights Club House Bingo. Dorothy was a member
and served as an officer in the Holiday Heights First Aid Squad Auxiliary
Association for many years.
She was married for 50 years to the late Quentin
McGarry who preceded her in death July 23, 1994. She is survived by her
children; Virginia Brewer and her husband Noel of Bloomsburg PA, Charles
McGarry and his wife Deborah of Dunellen NJ, and Kathleen Tompkins and her
husband Barry of Henryville PA. Also surviving are six grandchildren;
Jennifer, Jessica, Michael, Zachary, Amanda and Sarah and four
A Celebration of her life will be held at The
Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River NJ on Monday, August 16,
2010 at 3:30 PM. Friends will be received from 2-4 PM.
Burial will be private in the Resurrection
Cemetery in Piscataway NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may
be made to Holiday Heights First Aid Squad 120 Prince Charles Drive Toms
River NJ 08757 or Columbia-Montour Home Hospice 410 Glenn Avenue Suite 200
Bloomsburg PA 17815.
