Wesner, 81, of 122 Wonderview Road in Catawissa, went to be with the Lord on
Thursday, June 25, 2009. He was born on December 10, 1927, in Gilberton,
Pa, the son of the late Walter T. and Thelma Oakum Wesner.
Robert was a
1945 graduate of Gilberton Borough High School and worked at TRW and Textron
in Danville PA before his retirement in 1991. He was a member of First
Baptist Church of Danville and actively served in the AWANA ministry until
Robert was a
devoted follower of Jesus Christ, loving husband, father and grandfather.
He enjoyed golfing, reading, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events
and working outdoors. Most importantly, his greatest enjoyment was spending
time with his family.
survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Delores (Dee) Ackley Wesner whom he
married June 16, 1962. Also surviving are two sons, David Wesner and his
wife Tobye of Lancaster; Douglas Wesner and his wife Jeanie of Catawissa;
and one daughter, Diane Wesner Hickey and her husband Tony of Mountville.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Alyssa, Tommy, Kade, Kyle, Kohl,
Caila and Connor. Robert was one of 13 children and was preceded in death
by two brothers, William and Walter Wesner and two sisters, Emma Mensch and
Faye Romberger. Surviving are three brothers, Charles Wesner, Francis
Wesner and Lee Wesner and five sisters, Eleanor White, Thelma Miller, Arlene
Seedor, Shirley Klemas and Tina Stankavage.
Celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009, at 11:00
AM. at First Baptist Church of Danville 20 Brookside Drive Danville PA with
the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland officiating assisted by the Reverend
David J. Mouw. There will be no viewing before the service. Burial will be
in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville. Contributions in Robert’s memory may be
