Mary F. James

Mary F. James, 90, of 15 Cross Street Danville PA passed away Wednesday evening, April 1, 2009 at her residence.  She was born March 18, 1919 at Geisinger Hospital in Danville PA the daughter of the late Augustus and Jennie Fry Tanner. 

She graduated from Danville High School in 1937.   She was employed as a dietary aide at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA for 16 years from where she retired.   

Mrs. James enjoyed gardening and sewing.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.  She was a member of Christ Memorial Episcopal Church Danville PA. 

She was married for 53 years to the late Robert I. James who preceded her in death June 30, 1992.  She is survived by two sons; Robert T. James, Sr. and companion Margaret Tanner of Danville PA and William L. James and his wife Margaret of Danville PA.  Also surviving are three daughters; Barbara L. Stevens and her husband William of Eatonton GA,  Rebecca “Becky” Sutherland and her husband Rockie of Danville PA and Margaret E. “Peggy” Herman and her husband Edward of Danville PA.  Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  One sister, Margaret Gehret of Las Vegas, Nevada also survives her.  In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one son, Gary W. James and two brothers; William Tanner at age nine and John Tanner during World War II.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.   

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Monday, April 6, 2009 from Christ Memorial Episcopal Church E Market Street and Pine Streets Danville PA with the Reverend Nancy Shank officiating.   Burial will be private in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville PA.  The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Memorial Episcopal Church PO Box 363 Danville PA  17821.   Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home Inc 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
