Fox, 58, of 406 West Valley Avenue Elysburg PA passed away unexpectedly in
his office at the Danville Airport on Tuesday morning, March 3, 2009. He
was born May 8, 1950 in Danville, PA the son of the late J. Henry and
Mildred E. Camp Fox.
graduated from Danville High School in 1968 and from Williamsport Area
Community College in 1970 with a degree in aviation mechanics.
started his apprenticeship in aviation at the Danville Airport under the
direction of the late Kenneth B. Burrows at age 13. At age 16, he received
his private pilot’s license and has been the manager of the Danville Airport
He was a
member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and the Aircraft
Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Mr. Fox was a member of the Elysburg
Presbyterian Church and the Danville Kiwanis Club. He thoroughly enjoyed
sports and was an avid Penn State and
NASCAR fan. Mr. Fox was a member of the Cherokee Golf League and
particularly enjoyed playing basketball. For several years he also coached
many of sports in which his children participated. He also enjoyed
airplanes, model trains, and corvette restoration. He was above all devoted
to his family; especially watching his children participate in athletics and
taking them on family vacations.
survived by his wife of 33 years, Patricia B. Hunter Fox whom he married
June 21, 1975. Also surviving are two sons; Michael J. Fox and his
girlfriend Pamela Carey of Wilkes-Barre PA and Christopher M. Fox, at home
and one daughter, Kathryn “Katie” E. Fox, also at home. He is also survived
by one sister, Joanne E. Fox of Danville PA. Also surviving is his
mother-in-law, Flora Hontz of Almedia, Bloomsburg PA and two
brother-in-laws; Thomas Hunter of Winfield, PA and Robert Hunter of
