Helen Kehl Newcomer "Aunt Polly"

Helen Kehl Newcomer “Aunt Polly”, 103, formerly of 1 Short Street Danville PA passed away Friday morning, March 27, 2009 at Grandview Health Homes, Inc. Danville PA where she had been a guest for 11 years.  She was born June 1, 1905 in Danville PA the daughter of the late John R. and Anna Lewis Kocher. 

She attended Danville Schools.  Helen was a lifelong member of Shiloh United Church of Christ Danville PA, where she faithfully attended and served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher for many years.  Helen was a member of “The Ladies of the Golden Eagles” and the Valley Grange.  One of her greatest enjoyments was square dancing.   

Her first husband, C. Leroy Kehl died in 1962.  Her second husband, William Newcomer, of Milton PA, died in 1979. 

She was preceded in death by four sisters; Lorene Lunger, Marie Ralston, Ruth Kocher and Lillian Kocher and two brothers; William Kocher and Norman Kocher.  She is survived by several nieces and nephews; Glenn Lunger and Darlis Pope; both of Danville, PA; Vicki Egli of Dewart PA; William Kocher, Jr. of Hughesville PA, Susan Snoddy of Allenwood, PA and Rozalyn Yannacone of Turbotville PA.   

Helen’s family is grateful and very thankful to the staff at Grandview Health Homes, Inc. whose loving care contributed to her longevity. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services which will be held Monday, March 30, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA with the Reverend David R. Schnaars officiating.  Burial will follow in Reformed Cemetery Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 12:00 Noon until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh United Church of Christ 500 Bloom Road Danville PA  17821.
