Harold “Butch” C. Young, Jr. died January
7, 2009 of natural causes in his home in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was born
October 15, 1953 in Danville PA the son of the late Forrest S. and the late
Harold C. Young, Sr.
He graduated from Danville Area Sr. High
School in 1971. He attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois
concentrating in Fine Arts and Media. He was employed as the Regional
Director of Catering and Convention Services and also a part of the
Executive Team of the Sheraton Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii where he managed
three Sheraton properties. He had been employed by Sheraton for many

school years he played in the local band, Hot Buttered Funk. He was a
member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. Mr. Young received numerous industry
awards and distinctions and he served on the Boy Scouts of America Executive
He is survived by his sister, Sherri J. Young of Chicago, Illinois. Also
surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Memorial Service was held at the Sheraton
Waikiki where attendance was filled to capacity and overflowing. He was
highly respected and loved by many. Family and close friends attended and
participated in a private traditional Hawaiian tribal burial at sea.
