Glenn E. Davis, 62, of
Sunbury PA died Friday, November 6, 2009 at Geisinger Medical Center
Danville PA after a heroic battle with leukemia, more concerned about the
people he loved than any discomfort he was feeling. He was born September
21, 1947 in Shenandoah VA the son of the late Orvin O. Davis, Jr. and
Cerretha Comer Davis.
A graduate of James
Madison University, Glenn was also a veteran of the Vietnam War and served
five years in the United States Air Force. In 2000, Glenn retired from the
Federal Bureau of Prisons and explored the world with his loving wife,
As a lifelong traveler,
Glenn was curious about everything. He had an inquisitive mind and was well
versed in a wide range of subjects—history, politics, biography and most of
all, baseball. Glenn was a man of few words, but could disarm any tenuous
situation and have people laughing with his many one-liners.
Along with his mother, he
is also survived by his wife Fran and three children; Sara, Katherine and
Megan; two step-daughters and three grandchildren. Also surviving are his
sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Jimmy Shifflet, nephew Jason Shifflet
and cousin Susie Comer Corbin.
A Memorial Service will
be held at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton Virginia on Wednesday, November 11,
2009 at 3:30 PM with the Reverend Stephen Creech officiating. The family
will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the
family is requesting that donations be made to the Page County Animal
Shelter 1261 Goodrich Road Stanley VA 22851.
