Edith A. Spring

Edith A. Spring, 99, formerly of 268 West Mahoning Street and Mahoning Terrace Apartments, Danville PA died Friday February 6, 2009 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA.  She had also resided at Vintage Knolls at Grandview since 2000.  She was born April 15, 1909 in Jeddo PA the daughter of the late Thomas V. and Amelia Jones Klingerman. 

She graduated from Hazelton High School in 1927.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Danville PA where she had served as Treasurer for 10 years.  Mrs. Spring was employed as a bookkeeper for three years by Gaertner and Brittain  Distributors and by Geisinger Medical Center in the Medical Records Department for six years.   

Actively involved in the Order of the Eastern Star, she was a life member and past Matron of the Danville Chapter #186 of the Order of the Eastern Star, a former district Grand Matron District #22 and also a Grand Officer of the Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania where she had many appointments.  She was instituted into the Assembly of The Grand Cross of Color by the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls.  Mrs. Spring also served as District Deputy for 22 years for seven Assemblies of the Rainbow for Girls.  She enjoyed doll collecting and all kinds of crafting.   

She was married for 56 years to the late John P. Spring who preceded her in death November 25, 1989.  They were married October 27, 1933.  She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jane Wemple of Bloomsburg PA and  two sons; Thomas M. Spring and his wife Sandra of Home, PA and Albert J. Churm and his wife Philomena of Danville PA.  She is survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two grandsons.  She was also preceded in death by five brothers; James, George, Thomas, Carl and Paul Klingerman and two sisters; Irene Rudolph and Florence Fox. 

 Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Monday, February 9, 2009 at 1:00 PM from the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with the Reverend Michael A. Greenauer officiating.  Friends will be received from 12:00 Noon until the time of service.  Burial will follow in Elan Memorial Park Bloomsburg PA.  Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund  215 E Market Street Danville PA 17821.  www.visneski.com
