Shirley C. Erlston, 73

November 30, 2008

Shirley C. Erlston, 73, of Danville PA died Friday, November 28, 2008 at Columbia Montour Home Hospice at Maria Hall Danville PA.  She was born July 24, 1935 in Danville PA the daughter of the late Merril and Mary West DeGreen, Sr. 

She graduated from Danville High School in 1953.  She was employed by Danville Manufacturing and later as a cook for the Montour County Jail from where she retired.  She was a member of Washies, Continental, East End and Goodwill Fire Companies in Danville PA and also a member of the Six County Firemen’s Association.  Shirley was a member of the Danville American Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Continental Fire Company.  She enjoyed shuffleboard, bowling and spending time with her family. 

She was married to the late Frank E. Erlston who preceded her in death April 12, 2004.  She is survived by two sons; Perry L. Raup and his wife Georgene of Danville PA and Tony F. Raup and his companion Chris of Muncy PA and one daughter Vickie L. Mensch and her husband Jeffrey of Danville PA.  Also surviving are two stepsons; Frank Erlston, Jr. of Shamokin PA and Robert “Moose” Erlston of Danville PA and four step-daughters; Cindy Yeager of Shamokin PA; Deb Erlston, Brenda Erlston; both of Harrisburg PA and Ellie Mae Erlston of Danville PA.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is one brother Merril DeGreen, Jr. and his wife Diana of Elysburg PA and one sister Linda R. Temple and her husband Carl of Danville PA.   She was preceded in death by one son Donald Raup, Jr. and two sisters; Mary Mowrer and Nancy Cragle.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her companion James A.  Hagenbuch of Danville PA. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held Wednesday, December 3, 2008  at 11:30 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church 306 Lombard Avenue Danville PA with the Reverend Dennis W. Derr officiating.  Burial will be private in Straub’s Lutheran Cemetery Danville PA.

Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Columbia Montour Home Hospice 410 Glenn Avenue Suite 200 Bloomsburg PA  17815.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Visneski Funeral Home Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville PA.
