Ruth H. Millard

Ruth H. Millard, 86, of 300 W Mahoning Street Danville PA died Monday February 4, 2008 at Grandview Health Homes, Inc. Danville PA.  She was born August 14 1921 in Muncy PA the daughter of the late Albert and Sarah Brand Gulliver. 

She graduated from Muncy High School in 1939 and graduated as a registered nurse from the Geisinger Hospital School of Nursing in 1943.  During World War II she served with the Army Corps of Nursing at Valley Forge Military Hospital in Valley Forge PA.  Mrs. Millard was employed from 1960 until 1985 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA as a nursing supervisor.  She was an active member of Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church Danville PA.  She was a member of the Geisinger School of Nursing Alumni Association.  Mrs. Millardís greatest joy was spending time with her family and her friends.  She loved dogs, enjoyed reading and was an avid Penn State fan. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Howard W. Millard on January 2 2006.  They were married September 4 1948.  She is survived by one son H. Lynn Millard of Salisbury MD and one daughter Catherine Schwoebel and her husband William O., Jr. of Havertown PA.  Also surviving are four grandchildren; Dr. Nathan Millard, Sarah Millard, Stephen Schwoebel and Victoria Schwoebel and several nieces and nephews.  Preceding her in death were three brothers; James, Albert and William Gulliver. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Thursday February 7 2008 at 12:00 Noon from Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church 407 Pine Street Danville PA with her pastor the Reverend L. Keith Pittsnogle officiating.  Burial will be in Muncy Cemetery Muncy PA.  Friends will be received from 10:45 AM until 11:45 AM at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.
