Jankowski, 74, of 35 Circle View Dr., Elysburg, died peacefully and
surrounded by family, on Friday March 14, at the Geisinger Medical Center.
Shamokin on January 7, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Enoch and Mary
Peggy, who grew
up in Shamokin, graduated from St. Edward's High School in 1952. She spent
most of her life in this region and in metropolitan Washington, DC. She
married Bernard D. Jankowski on July 24, 1957, at Church of the Immaculate
Conception in Towson, MD. They shared 50 years together, deeply committed
to each other and most often found by each other's side.
known for her sense of style and devotion to family and friends. In the
Washington area, Peggy's many activities included bowling, gourmet group,
tennis, and spending time supporting her children and their
athletic/scholastic pursuits. After their children graduated from high
school, Peggy and her husband returned to Shamokin, where they opened the
New York Grab Bag boutique on Independence Street. Peggy loved to entertain
friends and family and was known to pay attention to the
details, making an event not only special, but memorable. She had an
adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling and new experiences. Peggy could
light up a room with her enthusiasm, sharp wit, and quick and easy laughter.
Peggy, a loving
wife, mother, and grandmother, is survived by her husband Bernard of
Elysburg, PA; son Bernard Jankowski, his wife Kathy, and grandchildren Nick
and Marie, of Poolesville, MD; daughter Marylynne, her husband
Ned Burns, and grandchildren Lindsey, Kellyn, Grace, and Christopher of
Kennett Square, PA.
preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Francis, and John Povleski, and
two sisters, Miriam Yarema and Ellen Hall. She is survived by three
siblings, Robert and Edward Povleski and Rita Matuliewicz, and numerous
nieces and nephews.

Jankowski, 74, of 35 Circle View Dr., Elysburg. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated Monday, March 17, 2008, 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic
Church, 18 E. Center St., Danville. Rev. William M. Weary will officiate.
Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery Mausoleum, Elysburg. Friends
will be received from 8:30 to time of Mass at the church. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House,
c/o the Geisinger Foundation, 100 N. Academy Ave., Danville, PA 17822-4000.
