Lois E. Fisher, 91

October 29, 2008

Our mother, Lois E. Fisher, 91, went home to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 29, 2008.  Lois was a gentle and kind woman who thought more of helping others than herself.  She was born August 15 1917 in Rush Township PA the daughter of the late Reeder and Laura Bahr Shultz.

Her early life was spent on a farm with her brother Myron Shultz who went to be with the Lord in 1985 and her sister Helen who survives her.  At age 12 when her father died Lois and her family moved into Danville PA.  Lois lived off and on since 1929 in her Upper Mulberry Street home where she closed her eyes Wednesday morning and opened them in the presence of her Heavenly Father.

Briefly married to Scott Baldwin, she had a daughter Sharon and lived in Philadelphia PA to help her brother Myron operate his business.  Her marriage to her second husband John Fisher resulted in the birth of two daughters Joyce and Elaine and a return to Danville PA where she was employed by Danville State Hospital for 17 years.  John died in 1963 and Lois worked several jobs to raise her three daughters.  She loved to talk about the many families she babysat for and about the years she spent working at The Tastee-Freeze in Danville PA.  Lois retired in 1980.  She and her sister traveled extensively around the country on several bus trips.  Lois also visited her daughters in California and New York.

Lois loved to sew and did volunteer work making quilts that were distributed to missionaries and the needy.  She volunteered at Grandview Health Homes where she transported patients to worship service.  She continued to keep her garden well into her 80’s and adored her cat Mr. Whiskers.

She is survived by three daughters; Sharon Troutman and son-in-law Harry of Danville PA; Joyce O’Brien and son-in-law Michael of Carmichael CA and Elaine Borgese of Danville PA and Edward R. Borgese.  Also surviving are her grandchildren; Harry “Chip” Troutman III and his companion Erin Arney; Amy Troutman, Alyson, Anita and Reina O’Brien and Eddye J., Arielle and Jesse Borgese and her great-grandchildren Jayden and Camri Rice.  Also surviving is one sister Helen Rader of Catawissa PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Lois’s Life Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive Danville PA with her pastor the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland officiating.  Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 9:30 until 10:45 AM at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Youth Ministries.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home Inc 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.
