Russell L. Straub

Russell L. Straub, 90, of 295 Stine Road Danville, PA went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday morning, October 3, 2008 at his residence.  He was born July 5, 1918 in Lewisburg PA the son of the late Wilson and Verna Ballet Straub. 

He was a self-employed farmer in West Hemlock Township Montour County PA and was employed at Geisinger Medical Center in the Housekeeping Department for 15 years. 

Mr. Straub was a member of Godís Missionary Church, Helfenstein (Shamokin) PA where he served as a substitute pastor. He enjoyed antique tractor shows and in his earlier years, square dancing. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Pearl A. (Beachel) Straub of 64 years on August 12, 2005.  They were married September 7, 1940.  Mr. Straub is survived by one son Calvin R. Straub and daughter-in-law Ida of Danville, PA and one daughter, Violet V. Ulrich Bloomsburg, PA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by one grandson, Darin A. Straub on May 19, 2001.  He was also preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services which will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 11:00 AM from the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA with the Reverend Milton P. McKinney Sheeps Bible Church Danville, PA officiating.  Burial will follow in Columbia Hill Cemetery Columbia Hill Road Danville, PA.   Friends will be received Monday evening from 7-9 PM and from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Sheeps Bible Church 101 Billhime Road Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
