Ray F. Beagle, 91

September 25, 2008

Ray F. Beagle, 91, of  95 Cameltown Hill Road Danville PA died Thursday morning, September 25, 2008 at Grandview Health Homes, Inc. Danville PA.  He was born May 2, 1917 in Bloomsburg, PA the son of the late Frank J. and Jennie J. Howell Beagle.   

Mr. Beagle was employed by the Bloomsburg Silk Mill for seven years as a weaver.  He was also a farmer.  He co-owned with his wife the Muncy Drive-In from 1962-1967 and Beagleís Tasty-Freeze in Danville from 1971-1980 which is now Hunterís.  Mr. Beagle was also employed as a night houseman for three years at Geisinger Medical Center.   After his retirement he operated a small lawn mowing business. 

He was a member of Pine Street Lutheran Church Danville PA where he was a member of the Menís Bible Class.  In the mid 1950ís he was the superintendant of the Buckhorn Lutheran Church for six years and also served as a West Hemlock School Board Director.  An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Beagle especially enjoyed hunting.  Mr. Beagle also took great pride in his gardening.  He was very well known for his beautiful flower beds. 

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jane L. Rudy Beagle whom he married January 9, 1965.  Also surviving is one son, Edward E. Beagle and his wife Holly of Millville PA and two daughters; Mary Jane Johnson and her husband Elwood, Jr. of Sunbury PA and Patricia A. Yeager and her husband Martin of Danville PA.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is one sister Betty Levan of Catawissa PA.  He was preceded in death by four brothers; Hurley, John, Nevin and Atlee Beagle and two sisters; Mary Beagle in childhood and Aleta Bobrow.

 Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services Monday, September 29, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with his pastor the Reverend L. Keith Pittsnogle officiating.  Burial will follow in the Columbia Hill Cemetery Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 12:30 PM until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made to Pine Street Lutheran Church 407 Pine Street Danville PA 17821.  www.visneski.com
