Dorothy G. "Dot" Sacks, 85

Dorothy G. “Dot” Sacks, 85, of 12 Millwood Drive Danville PA and formerly of Woxall and East Greenville PA died Thursday May 15 2008 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA.  She was born July 6 1922 in Spring Mount PA the daughter of the late George B. and Adelaide Slemmer Gebert.

She graduated from Schwenksville High School in 1938 and Norristown Business College.  She was employed by the United States Postal Service as the Postmaster in Woxall PA for 27 years.  She also owned and operated a general store in Woxall for many years. Dot was an active member of the Tabor United Methodist Church Hendricks PA for 57 years.    She enjoyed working in her garden, collecting coins and stamps and was an avid Scrabble player.  Dot was a member of the National League of Postmasters of the United States and served as Vice President of the Pennsylvania State Branch. 

She was married to the late Wright L. Sacks.  She is survived by one son Barry Sacks and his wife Jackie of Lederach PA and one daughter with whom she resided Donna Gutknecht and her husband David of Danville PA.  Also surviving are ten grandchildren; Kristin, Andrew, Liesl, Brian, Branden, Lindsay, Kendall, Bernie, John and Joe and two great-grandchildren; Chelsea and Alex.  She is survived by two sisters; Beatrice Berger of Red Hill PA and Gloria Dry of Tyrone PA.  Also surviving are nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by three brothers; Kenneth, Lloyd and Donald Gebert and one sister Margaret Gebert.   

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Monday May 19 2008 at 1:00 PM at the Tabor United Methodist Church Hendricks PA with her pastor the Reverend Alan J. Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends will be received from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the church.  The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Tabor United Methodist Church PO Box 38 Woxall PA  18979.  www.visneski.com.
