Donald M. “Mike”
Wagner, of 620 E Market Street Danville PA, 55, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008
at his home following a courageous battle with cholangial carcinoma, a rare
form of cancer. He had been ill since May of 2007.
He was born April
19, 1953, in Reading PA; he was the son of Eleanor R. (Feeney) Wagner of
Reading PA and the late Donald E. Wagner.
He was a 1971
graduate of Muhlenberg Township High School and a 1975 graduate of East
Stroudsburg University. Following graduation, he was hired at Danville State
Hospital as a Psychiatric Aide. He served as a local officer for AFSCME, and
had worked at DSH for 31 years until the time of his illness and death.
One of his
greatest pleasures was reenacting his love of history with his comrades of
Co K of the 81st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, a branch of the
Mifflin Guard Civil War reenactors. He will be sorely missed in the ranks
and around the evening campfires.
his wife, Kathy (Learn), with whom he celebrated a 31st wedding anniversary
on December 23, 2007, and his son, Patrick, at home. He is also survived by
one sister, Susan (Mrs. Edward) Thomas of Shillington, PA.
A Celebration of
His Life for family and friends will take place on Saturday, May 10 2008 at
3:00 PM at the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville
PA with John Deppen officiating. Friends will be received from 12:30 PM
until the time of service. Reenactors are invited to come in uniform. The
family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions in his honor may be
made to an educational fund for his son Patrick c/o Kathleen Wagner 620 E
