Donald M. "Mike" Wagner

May 8, 2008

Donald M. “Mike” Wagner, of 620 E Market Street Danville PA, 55, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at his home following a courageous battle with cholangial carcinoma, a rare form of cancer. He had been ill since May of 2007.

He was born April 19, 1953, in Reading PA; he was the son of Eleanor R. (Feeney) Wagner of Reading PA and the late Donald E. Wagner.

He was a 1971 graduate of Muhlenberg Township High School and a 1975 graduate of East Stroudsburg University. Following graduation, he was hired at Danville State Hospital as a Psychiatric Aide. He served as a local officer for AFSCME, and had worked at DSH for 31 years until the time of his illness and death.

One of his greatest pleasures was reenacting his love of history with his comrades of Co K of the 81st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, a branch of the Mifflin Guard Civil War reenactors. He will be sorely missed in the ranks and around the evening campfires.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy (Learn), with whom he celebrated a 31st wedding anniversary on December 23, 2007, and his son, Patrick, at home. He is also survived by one sister, Susan (Mrs. Edward) Thomas of Shillington, PA.

A Celebration of His Life for family and friends will take place on Saturday, May 10 2008 at 3:00 PM at the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc.  10 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with John Deppen officiating.  Friends will be received from 12:30 PM until the time of service. Reenactors are invited to come in uniform.  The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to an educational fund for his son Patrick c/o Kathleen Wagner 620 E Market Street Danville PA 17821. www.visneski.com
