Donald K. Thomas, 82,
of 743 East Market Street Danville PA died Monday March 10 2008 at Geisinger
Medical Center Danville PA. He was born April 29 1925 in Northumberland PA
the son of the late David Edward and Ruth Beatrice Kline Thomas.
He graduated from
Danville High School in 1943. He served in the United States Army Air Force
for 26 months during the European, African and Eastern Air Offensive
Campaigns during World War II.
Mr. Thomas was
employed as a chemical operator by Merck Chemical and Pharmaceuticals
Riverside PA for many years from where he retired. He was an active member
of First Baptist Church of Danville PA where he had previously served on
many boards and committees of the church. He was a member of the
Susquehanna Sportsmenís Club in Valley Township and also the NRA. Mr.
Thomas was known by many as a sportsman, hunter and carpenter. He liked to
read and enjoyed making furniture.
He is survived by his
wife of 58 years Wilma Mae Leighow Thomas whom he married February 26 1950.
He is also survived by three sons; David D. Thomas and his wife Elaine;
Edward A. Thomas and his wife Carla; and Dennis A. Thomas and his wife
Sharon; all of Danville PA. Also surviving is one daughter, Donna K. Thomas
of Aldan Pennsylvania. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Daniel,
Laura and Seth and one sister Sylvia Dressler of Danville PA.
Relatives and friends
are invited to attend funeral services Thursday March 13 2008 at 1:00 PM at
First Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive Danville PA with the Reverend Dr.
Harry H. Wonderland officiating assisted by the Reverend David J. Mouw,
Associate Pastor and the Reverend Calvin R. Beveridge, Pastor Emeritus.
Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA. Friends will be
received from 11:30 AM until 12:45 PM at the church. The family will
provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Explorer Girls, Inc.
