Herbert E. Keefer, Sr., 77

Herbert E. Keefer, Sr., 77, of 60 Moser Road Danville PA died Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA.  He was born August 18, 1930 in Danville PA the son of the late Herbert M. and Edna Rudy Keefer. 

He attended Danville High School.  He served in the United States Navy.

Mr. Keefer was employed by Kennedy Van Saun Danville PA both in the shell line and also as a security guard.  He was also employed by Heinz in Bloomsburg PA.  His greatest enjoyment was horses and harness racing.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Mr. Keefer was an avid New York Yankees and Washington Redskins fan. 

Mr. Keefer is survived by his wife of 56 years Freda G. Lanning Keefer whom he married March 10, 1951.  He is also survived by three sons; Herbert E. Keefer, Jr. and his wife Jean of Danville PA; Terry A. and his wife Michelle of Danville PA and William M. and his wife Verda of Danville PA and two daughters; Beverly A. Harris of Danville PA and Helen I. Oberdorf and her husband Richard of Danville PA.  Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.  He is also survived by two sisters; Helen Grove of Danville PA and Charlotte Hendricks of Danville PA.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by three brothers; Carl, Elwood and William Keefer and two sisters; Mae Faux and Marguerite Knapp.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 21, 2007 at 11:00 AM from the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA with Brother Jody Bortz of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Jerseytown PA officiating.  Burial will follow in Elan Memorial Park Bloomsburg PA.  Friends will be received Thursday evening from 7-9 PM at the funeral home and also from 9:30 until the time of service.
