Helen M. Bitler, 90

December 29, 2007

Helen M. Bitler, 90, of 315 W Mahoning Street Danville PA where she had resided for the past 30 years died early Saturday morning, December 29 2007 at Grandview Health Homes Inc.  She was born April 29 1917 in Danville PA the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary B. Kistner Hildebrand. 

She graduated from Danville High School in 1935.  Mrs. Bitler attended nursing school at Allentown State Hospital.  She worked at Reams in Danville PA (later known as TRW) during World War II making propeller shafts for PT Boats, and later at Cabinet Works in Danville.   

She was a member of Grove Presbyterian Church Danville PA and a former member of Mahoning Presbyterian Church Danville PA.  Mrs. Bitler was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan and enjoyed following any Philadelphia sports teams.  She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. 

She was married for 35 years to the late Wilmer T. Bitler who preceded her in death March 13 1984.  They were married April 24 1948.  Surviving is one son; Gregory A. Bitler of Laureldale PA.  She is also survived by two brothers; Donald Hildebrand of Massachusetts and Thomas Hildebrand of Colorado Springs Colorado.  She was preceded in death by three brothers; Fairlee, Robert and Chester Hildebrand and three sisters; Arzella Kopp, Ora Hildebrand and Zelma O’Leary.  A nephew she raised, Raymond Beiswanger, Sr., also preceded her in death. 

A Celebration of her life will be held Thursday January 3 2008 at 1:00 PM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA with the Reverend Dr. Robert J. Andrews and the Reverend Judson S. Bennett officiating.  Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 11:30 AM until time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made to Mahoning Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund 106 E Mahoning Street Danville PA.
