Mrs. Geraldine "Polly" Evans, 88

Mrs. Geraldine "Polly" Evans, 88, a resident at Twining Village Retirement Community, Holland, PA, died Saturday, October 20, 2007.  Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, she was the daughter of Thomas Arthur Merrill and Elizabeth Dudley Merrill.  

Mrs. Evans  was a 1937 graduate of Kingston High School and worked in the keypunch section of the Social Security Administration in Wilkes Barre, PA for a number of years.  She resided in Kingston, PA for nearly thirty years and for sixty summers at Harveys Lake PA 

She was a member of the Wilkes Barre Cambrian Club and the Westmoor Church of Christ.  She moved to Levittown, PA and worked for the Bristol Township Schools and Carter-Wallace for twenty five years during which time she was a member of the First Christian Church of Levittown.  She and her husband retired to Clearwater Florida in 1982 where she was a member of First Christian Church of Clearwater, FL.  After her husbandís death she became a resident of Twining Village Retirement Community in Holland PA.

Mrs. Evans was preceded in death in November 2000 by her husband of 63 years, William V. "Cope" Evans, and earlier by her brothers Fredrick and Sterling Merrill. 

Surviving are her sons, William V. Jr. of Harveys Lake, PA and Thomas M. of Wrightstown, PA along with five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. 

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville, PA. .  Interment will be with her late husband in Bay Pines National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, FL   Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimerís Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice.
