Frances C. Kulhavy,
88, of 1329 W. Winter Road Loganton PA, a lifelong resident of Sugar Valley,
PA went to be home with her Lord on Wednesday, June 13 2007 at her home. She
was born May 30, 1919 in Logan Mills PA the daughter of the late Ammon L.
and Annie L. Emig Showers.
She graduated from
Sugar Valley Vocational School in 1936 and from The Thompson School of
Business in Williamsport PA in 1937. Mrs. Kulhavy worked as a secretary and
bookkeeper retiring in 1988. She was employed at The Eutaw House in Potters
Mills PA for 28 years.
She was married to
Charles Kulhavy on December 10, 1955 who preceded her in death on August 6,
Mrs. Kulhavy was
an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Greenburr PA and
previously of St. Paulís EUB Church prior to its closing in 1964 where she
served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, pianist, choir member,
Administrative Board member and on the Board of Trustees of St. Paulís EUB
She was a member
of the Loganton Community Club and a faithful volunteer at the Susquehanna
Valley Visitorís Bureau in Lewisburg PA for over 15 years.
greatest joy was spending time with her family and her friends. An avid
gardener, she especially enjoyed growing flowers. She loved music,
traveling with her family and friends and especially enjoyed reading.
She is survived by
three sons; John Renninger and daughter-in-law Dorothy of Hadlyme CT; David
Showers and daughter-in-law Bonnie of Loganton PA and Stephen Kulhavy, of
Loganton PA. Also surviving are her grandchildren Floyd Renninger, Lisa
Mazzella and Kelly Johnson and her husband Tom, all of CT as well as Tracey
Yarnell and her husband Mike of Woolrich PA and Brian Showers and his wife
Chris of Rote PA. Also surviving are two step-grandchildren; Angela
Gerlinski and her husband Terry of Lewisburg PA and Nicholas Hoffman of
Lewisburg PA. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren and 1
great-great-grandchild. One sister, Miriam Geisewite, formerly of Eastville
PA also survives her.
A Celebration of
Francesí Life will be held Monday, June 18, 2007 at 11:00 AM from the Sugar
Valley Church of the Brethren Eastville PA with her nephew, the Reverend
Kenneth Geisewite officiating assisted by her pastor the Reverend Brenda
Mitchell. Burial will follow in the Trinity United Methodist Church
Cemetery Greenburr PA. Friends will be received Sunday evening from 5:00 Ė
8:00 PM and from 9:30 until the time of service at the church. Memorial
