Verna V. DeGreen, 90, of 47 Cherry Street
Danville PA died Friday afternoon, February 3, 2006 at her residence. She
was born February 18, 1915 in Washingtonville, PA the daughter of the late
George W. and Mary Savannah Heimbach DeGreen.
Miss DeGreen was raised and worked on her
family farm in Washingtonville until 1960 until her family moved to Danville
PA. She also worked at Chef-Boyardee in Milton, PA and in the Housekeeping
Department at Geisinger Medical Center where she retired.
She was a devoted friend and neighbor to many
who will miss her dearly. Her warm home was always open to her friends
where she provided unconditional love and support. She was an avid gardener
and provided gardening tips to many. One of her greatest passions was caring
for and raising her peach trees. An avid homemaker, she especially enjoyed
baking pies, cookies, cakes and her famous cinnamon rolls and then sharing
them with her friends. In recent years she particularly enjoyed jointly
preparing Sunday evening dinner with her friends and sharing laughter and
memories around the table. She also enjoyed sewing and lovingly taking care
of her family of African Violets.

four sisters many of whom she cared for tenderly before their deaths.
Celebration of Verna’s life will be held Tuesday, February 7th at
11:00 AM from the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville
PA 17821 with Geisinger Hospice Chaplain Robert D. Barner officiating.
Burial will follow in Strawberry Ridge Cemetery, Strawberry Ridge, PA.
Friends will be received from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
