Morton A. Berman, 75

September 4, 2006

Morton A. Berman, age 75, passed away on September 3, 2006 at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford.  Born in Williamsport, PA he was the son of the late Celia and Samuel Berman of Milton, PA where he lived and worked in the family retail business, People’s Department Store.  Since moving to Fairfield in 1984, he worked at the Kennedy Center workshop in Bridgeport and Trumbull and participated in the Senior Options Program.  He will long be remembered for his kind, cheerful nature and his love of singing and bowling.  In 2000 he was presented an Athlete of the Year Award as a Special Olympics Athlete.  Mr. Berman is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy Berman Brown and Frederic Brown of Fairfield; his nephew, Douglas Brown of Norwalk; his nephew, Dr. Michael Brown of Chevy Chase, MD; his niece, Susan Gault-Brown of Silver Spring, MD; and four great-nephews and two great-nieces.  A graveside service will take place at B’nai Zion Cemetery in Danville PA with a memorial service to follow at a later date at Congregation B’nai Israel in Bridgeport.  Donations may be made in his memory to CLASP Homes, Inc. 246 Post Road East, Westport, CT 06880 or to The Kennedy Center, 2440 Reservoir Avenue Trumbull CT  06611.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Visneski Funeral Home 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.
