Gassler, 88, of 24 Oak Street Danville PA died Thursday evening, March 16,
2006 at Bloomsburg Health Care Center Bloomsburg PA. He was born December
28, 1917 in Oneonta, NY the son of the late Henry and Grace Neff Gassler.
graduated from Oneonta High School. Mr. Gassler served in the United States
Army during World War II. He was employed by the Frank A. West Lithography
Printing Company Binghamton NY and also by Cole’s Hardware in Danville PA.
He was a
member of Mahoning Presbyterian Church Danville PA where he served as an
elder and choir member. An avid musician, Mr. Gassler was a flutist playing
in both the Danville Legion (Community) Band and also The Sunbury City
Band. He was involved with a band exchange program with European countries
especially Germany and England. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
married to the late Helen M. Johnson Gassler for 41 years who preceded him
in death March 13, 2000. He is survived by one son Richard D. Gassler of
Gilroy California and one daughter Joan A. Lindemuth of Anchorage, Alaska.
He is also survived by ten grandchildren and
eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and
services will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 2:00 PM from Mahoning
Presbyterian Church 106 E Mahoning Street Danville PA with his pastor the
Reverend Judson S. Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows
Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1:00 PM until the time of service
at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mahoning
